FunVention 2009 is but a memory after one year of anticipation. Friday October 2nd, 2009, 195 Red Hatters
arrived promptly at Pier 66 in Seattle to board Celebrity's Mercury for the 7th annual Pacific NW Red Hat
FunVention.

The four day cruise departed Seattle and sailed to Victoria BC and Nanaimo, BC. The weather was
spectacular.

On board ship there was so much to see and do to keep us entertained with hardly any time to sleep.
In Victoria some took the tour to Butchart Gardens and the tea. There was also a tea at the Empress and
others explored on their own.

The general consensus was that we need more time in Victoria, such a beautiful city. At dinner Saturday
evening we made the ambiance festive with our Hawaiian attires. The next  morning we entertained
passengers with our various states of dress and undress at the breakfast PJ party.

For lunch we celebrated birthdays at a special lunch the staff prepared for us in the dining room. There
were plenty of prizes, announcements and surprises.  The door contest winners had been chosen amongst
the 48 entries.  The hallways were decorated in true "Celebration" fashion.  Instead of three winners we
had five due to the overwhelming participation.  Cabins 1065, 1163, 4075, 9126, 9188 were the winners.  We
hope to post the picture of these winning cabin doors to our website.

Celebrity did indeed pull this party out of the hat after some communication breakdowns. Thank you to the
staff for volunteering to work overtime to make this luncheon special and memorable. As a thank you, the
ladies were quite generous in rewarding the staff. The staff wishes to thank everyone for being pleasant,
understanding, fun and generous.

In the evening we had a cocktail party and drew the winners of the spectacular basket raffle and other
door prizes, donated by Red Hat Adventures NW.  Thank you for supporting the raffle to cover planning
expenses, prizes and party favors.  We were dressed in full regalia and the passengers commented on
how we made their cruise more memorable, interesting, entertaining and colorful.  The Captain and the
Officers joined the Red Hat spirit while they marched through the dining room decked with red and purple
streamers.

On Monday it was already time to go home. Far too short indeed but with a smile on our faces.

The Pacific NW FunVention tradition will continue next year in Seattle for "Magic is in the Hat" hosted by
Donna Thompson, Pat Diggs and committee. Go to
