DID YOU MISS IT?  385 ladies didn't

Jammed packed with FUN, FunVention 2008 was held at the Double Tree Hotel, Lloyd Center in Portland
Oregon.  (

Friday, we had a full day with Bingo, a downtown Portland walking tour, line dancing, ZUMBA, a hat
decorating playshop and a mystery playshop that utilized adult size diapers to make a hat and feminine
hygiene products to make slippers.  If you wish to purchase ready made kits contact Peggy Ann Tuttle,
mapatuttle@msn.com.

The evening was hosted by Elvis himself. He MC'ed our talent show and then put on a show of his own
with everyone dancing. For those who preferred a quieter mood there was a DVD showing and the
hospitality room was open for all to enjoy.

Saturday morning at breakfast we were crowned with a fashion show by Sharon of The Society Woman .

On Saturday we moved to more gaming with Bunco for 150 ladies. The walking tour was repeated, belly
dancing, Zumba, card making and a beading project were offered as activities.

On both days our wonderful vendors offered us the opportunity of a lifetime to shop. We had so many
choices we can say thank goodness for plastic.

Saturday evening we had a Silent Auction that sent home many satisfied ladies with the incredible
bargains they were able to pick up. A beautiful basket worth $800 was donated and raffled by Lady
Dress-Up. (Click here for list of Auction and Raffle donors)

The parade of Queens prior to the gala was lead by Queen Jean Mounsey and included Queens and Vice
Queens. The Royal Court was mighty glamorous and large. The parade closed with our wing clad  Queen
Lise Thom.

During the gala we raffled 62 wonderfully decorated and donated chapter baskets. Chapter baskets
represent our essence, pride and our unity. It was an overwhelming sight and process as each Queen
drew a lucky winner's number.

The evening's entertainment was provided by the NW Senior Theater. We all agree that Minnie Pearl at
93 can make us laugh until we....well you know. They perform in the Portland area and at Alpenrose Dairy.

Could there have been any more fun? Of course. Breakfast in our pj's from flannels to negligees and
everything in between. Joan Freed delighted us with her delicious presentation of "Chocolate
Confessions". We exited to the tune of "We are Family"

See you next year? We sure hope so.

LET THE GOOD TIMES ROLL  !!!

Testimonies

"I want to express my sincere thanks to you ladies and your committee for a wonderful time at the Pacific
NW Funvention 2008.  You ladies did a fabulous job and I thoroughly enjoyed my first Funvention and I'm
looking forward to many more.  You are great organizers and my thanks and appreciation goes out to
you.  I have been an event coordinator in the past and I know the about of energy it takes.  But when it's
a success, the "high" we have is pretty awesome."

"It was so good to see you at The Funvention.....and I hope it was a success for you gals who worked
very hard to make it.I do know that all of the ladies I visited with, were having a blast.....

"I was just bushed when I got home on Sunday.  I was in my pj's and in bed by 7 pm!   But I had a
wonderful time!  I had been a little apprehensive about working instead of playing through the weekend.
Those thoughts were immediately dismissed by Friday morning.  I think you meet many more ladies by
working the events rather than schmoozing with the crowd as an attendee.  It was truly a FUNvention for
me!  Thanks for letting me be a part of it all !"
Roz

"Just a short note to let you know  the red hats from Nanaimo
The Bastion Babes  had a wonderful time   thanks for all your hard work"

"On behalf of all our ladies who attended, I want to thank all the funvention organizers for all their hard
work.  It sure paid off!  Everything was just super, more than we ever expected.  Three of us had been to
the International convention in Vegas a couple of years ago and it wasn't nearly as much fun as your
Portland Funvention nor as organized, at least in our opinions."

Our group from Roseville, CA (Red Hat Honeys) enjoyed ourselves immensely and want to thank you for
all the hard work you & your team did to make sure everything flowed well.  That was the BEST fashion
show we've ever seen - the way the ladies sashayed amongst the tables, choice of clothes & music -
FANTASTIC!  As a result, I even went back over to the vendors & purchased some of her clothes.
Thank you,
Nancy Grider

I want to thank you and your committee for hosting the fabulous 2008 Funvention!  We are looking
forward to the 2009 Funvention on the Celebrity Cruise out of Seattle!   Joeine, Val and I have been
telling our Red Hat Sisters here in Eugene about it, and it looks like we might have a good show of
ladies from the Eugene and Springfield area?

My mom (Judy Thompson) and I would like to express an overdue great big thank you to everyone who
worked so hard at putting the Funvention together!  It was great!  We really enjoyed ourselves and were
